 | | Electric Units in North Hampshire (10 images)
With the confirmed withdrawal of the class 442 Wessex sets now only weeks away a fine day was to good to miss, so a couple of hours was spent at Totters Lane between Winchfield and Hook stations. Examples of all the usual classes were captured. With the Class 170's due to move away and no more Class 442's the old South Western main line will be much poorer place.

 | | Time at Basingstoke (11 images)
31st: The promise of sunshine was not totally correct but it was a good few hours all the same. I was very lucky with the shot of 66220. I could see it coming but I could hear the freight coming behind me and it was traveling fast! Trying to watch both sides of the view finder at the same time and the critical timing was not helped when I saw that it was double headed.

28th Aug: Pathfinder's charter from Ealing Broadway to Penzance and rerturn was reason enough to make an early visit to Shottesbrooke, between Maidenhead and Twyford. After heavy overnight rain and with dark clouds looming a brief spell on sun provided beautiful light. Not when 40145 rolled through unfortunately.
30th Aug: A second attempt at photographing diversions via the Berks & Hants was more successfull with sun at the crucial moments

|
 | | A Morning at Water Orton and Afternoon at Nuneaton (23 images)
The weather forecast showed thunder in the afternoon. An early start at Water Orton gives a variety of picture options as there are a couple of foot bridges and a public foot crossing. Nuneaton Station gives shelter if it rains but is a spotters paradise and a photters nighmare. With platforms signalled for two way running giving alternative routing options. I seemed always to be the wrong side of the light. The rain and thunder stayed away !
